ITALY is TOAST

I have been watching international soccer for a very long time and I don't think I have ever seen such a poor team from Italy as I have witnessed in this tournament. They are slow, unimaginative and ready for a MAJOR overhaul. This EURO 2008 performance signifies the end of an era for Italy.

Emerging countries such as Croatia and Romania are far better competitors with the current powers of European soccer such as Portugal, Spain and Holland.

Yeah Im glad the Italians wont be out on the streets this year, proclaiming they are soccer gods. Its not their year. The Dutch on the other hand look unstopable.

Most overlooked the fact that Italy and France were both missing their top players from the World Cup (Zidane and Cannavaro). I'm pissed at myself for not making a bet on Romania to advance to the quarterfinals when I kept saying they'd be a dark horse to watch out for in this tourney. I had planned on betting them, but figured their group was just way too tough.

They have already beaten Holland, so don't be surprised if they do it again to move on.

romania will lose to the dutch and either the french or italians will progress. thinking the romanians will progress is not a done deal by any means

I think u r a bit biased with your comment: yesterday game was played by the azzurri with heart and many many chances score. Unofrtunately the referee wasn't having his best day, and it's true Italia isn't at his best, but to say this is the end of an era for Italy is farfetched to say the least. Coach sucks, not our players. just my 2 cents (being italian of course)...
